Jackmaster awarded Tennent’s Golden Can for contributions to Scottish culture

Back in January, Tennent’s announced it would start with their Golden Can awards, offered only to a select few deserving individuals. After having awarded a Golden Can to famed author Irvine Welsh and rock-trio Biffy Clyro, it is now Jackmaster, everyone’s favourite Scottish DJ who’ll be receiving one of the prestigious cans.

After spending the vast majority of his waking life digging for music in both local record shop Rubadub as well as internationally, quickly making his name for himself in the scene as a key figure head in underground scene. It didn’t take a long time for him to get noticed by industry peers and Jack soon found himself on the path to international success. Now years later, Jackmaster has established himself as key player in underground electronic music and has become one of Scotland’s most respected DJs.

From it’s inception in January of this year, Tennent’s Golden Cans are an acknowledgement of outstanding contributions to Scottish life and culture. All of the winners will be immortalised in the Golden Can Hall of Fame in the Glasgow Brewery.

While Jackmaster has a jam packed international touring schedule, he will be back in Glasgow on May 28th, hosting his own mastermix stage at Riverside Festival. Playing on his stage are Mr. G, DJ Koze, Hunee, Natalie & Becky and fellow Glaswegian Jasper James.
